Centaur Bronze Tier Training
More commonly known as the UKPSA Safety course.
This course has been established and is delivered by certified UKPSA Safety course instructors.
It enables you to prove that you have been assessed to safely handle the firearm of your chosen division whether in 'long gun (Mini Rifle, Shotgun PCC or Rifle) Or 'Short Gun' (Action Air, Long Barrelled Pistol, Handgun)

Your IPSC Journey Begins here
This course introduces you to the IPSC Shotgun , mini rifle, LBP or Action Air:
Learn the fundamentals, including safety, range commands, and course navigation.
It's ideal for those with some dynamic shooting experience or beginners with limited firearm exposure.
You will be assessed by a qualified UKPSA / IPSC Safety Instructor. Upon completion, you will receive one of the following outcomes:
- Pass: Competence demonstrated; UKPSA Competition Licence issued upon membership within six months.
- Referral: Further practice and tuition required before re-assessment.
- Fail:
Serious safety infraction; additional training needed before re-assessment.
Online Theory Session
What You will Cover:
- History of IPSC and the UKPSA
- Core gun safety principles
- The four fundamental rules of firearm safety
- Basic scoring systems and target arrays
- Overview of competitor equipment
- IPSC disciplines, categories, and team structures
- Safe shooting distances for steel targets
- Types of IPSC courses of fire
- Stage briefings and walkthroughs
- Understanding and using safety areas
- Basic firearm maintenance and care
Practical Range Application
What You will Cover:
- How to safely handle and unbag firearms at the range.
- Common firearm malfunctions and how to fix them.
- Finding your eye dominance and fixing a good shooting stance.
- Correct trigger finger placement and movement on the range.
- Range commands and how stages are run.
- Different start positions and how to practice them.
- Basic firearm reloading techniques.
- A longer shooting exercise combining all the skills you've learned, with a little time pressure.
- (If time allows) A quick look at what’s coming in the silver tier course.
Course Details & Pre Requisites
- Maximum 6 Participants per Instructor.
- Online learning made available.
- One full day dedicated range time.
- Firearms and Ammunition available upon request (Section 21 Declaration must be signed)
- IPSC Shotgun, .22 Mini rifle or LBP / LBR available
- Course cost - Area dependant.
